This three day event was the first annual ppg fly-in in the Pacific
Northwest. Larry Pindar and Scott Johnson were the meet organizers. Around fifteen motor pilots showed up with several
paraglider (pg) and hang glider (hg) pilots as spectators. Bruce Erion and friend
Laurie traveled the farthest, from Atlanta.
Geri Heathman was the newest pilot taking her second ever ppg flight on Sunday. She flew about a half hour till the winds got too
strong.
Scott and Bruce demonstrated their superior motor skills with foot
drags, close formations and landing on dune edges to spring back into the air
again. Scott did some touch and goes on top of Bruce's rental SUV while driving down the beach to end Saturdays flying
festivities.
Larry's son Clark made several nice flights off the dune with mom's
pg and a couple of gals hiked their hg's up the dune and soared the sand cliff when the conditions were too strong for us to
fly.
The fly-in was accident free with only one complaint of a pilot flying low in fog and strong
winds. The reaction from the local town was overwhelming as they loved to watch us
fly. Hopefully next year we'll be better organized with more pilots.
