New Paramotor

June 1, 2006
Bill Heaner, formerly of WalkerjetUSA, has formed a new company that is introducing the Revolution paramotor. It is based on the Walkerjet design and incorporates several design improvements.

Primary geometry is the same as the Walkerjet with most changes being to enhance safety of the cage and reduce the likelihood of what the USPPA terms "Body Contact With Spinning Prop." Most significantly, the netting is being made of kevlar and is made to be further away from the propeller.

It comes with two models of Simonini motor.

Paraglider Emergency Repair Kit

May 5, 2006

Paramotor City has introduced a kit puts together what pilots need to fix most small rips and/or minor line damage to gliders. For more information, visit Paramotorcity.net.

Any pilot having significant damage to his or her glider should have it inspected if there is any doubt as to its airworthiness. Line lengths are critical and lines should never just be tied together -- that degrades line strength about in half.

Communications Helmet

Mar 18, 2006

Ed Note: This company is no longer producing these helmets.

Paradrome PPG, maker of the "Nickovox" is now offering comm. helmets especially for paramotor pilots. They take a Bell multi-sports helmet then add Silencio ear cups and a Panasonic noise-canceling mic on a custom flexible aluminum tubing boom, along with a PTT.

The helmet comes in "Plain" or "Deluxe". Plain is the basic helmet system with speakers, mic, and PTT, priced at $200. The "Deluxe" also includes the Patent-Pending Nickovox electronics module, which provides sidetone which is a truly fantastic feature that once you try you won't be able to live without, and also the ability to listen to stereo music from any portable music source. The music plays until you transmit or receive on your comm radio, at which time the circuitry cuts out the music and puts the comm through. Works great.
The "Deluxe" is priced at $250.

Two sizes are offered, small and medium. Shipping is $18 anywhere in the US. Contact Nick Scholtes for orders or more information.

Suspension System

Mar 12, 2006

Fresh Breeze is introducing a new Comfort Bar Suspension system at the coming National PPG Convention. They have been working on the system for a 3 year period to combine the most-often desired features. First and foremost, they have worked to reduce torque and gyroscopic effects, which, they say, have nearly been eliminated.

The pilot has full extension of his legs due to the sliding webbing system and forward launches are made easier due to the rotational design of the comfort bars.

This new system does not allow the jettison of the engine in mid air but the harness can be removed without tools in less than a minute on the ground. It is an available (no extra charge) option in addition to the still-popular (weight shiftable) original soft J bar jettison system.

A retrofit for original soft J Bar motor is possible in most cases by changing the motor frame only.
Qualified pilots are invited to take the new system for a test flight at the Convention. More details are available at www.SouthernSkies.net.

Big Daddy Bearings

Feb 1, 2006

For those using Roleez Wheels on trikes, you know how the stock bearings, with their plastic housing, will melt if you roll for extended periods. Enter Big Daddy Bearings: sealed, precision steel bearings with a machined adaptor to fit in all sized Roleez wheels. These bearings are currently available only for a 1" axle (most common for Roleez). If your axle is slightly larger than 1" or is powdercoated, some fitting may be needed.

Big Daddy Bearings with adaptors are $35.00 each (2 required per wheel) S&H
not included. If you wish to provide your own bearings, the adaptors alone are $10.00 each
(2 required per wheel) S&H not included. You may contact me directly or check with various dealers such as Airparamo.com or Americanparagliding.com. Dealer Inquiries Welcomed.

Top 80 Performance Muffler

Jan 15, 2006

Brad Weiss, distributor for Top 80 parts in the U.S. is offering the new high-performance muffler from the motor's creator. Although his first batch sold out, he has more on the way.

At 4.5 pounds, it uses a steel tube header and aluminum reflection chamber/silencer to save weight, and is 1/3 lighter than the stock unit. Most top 80 mufflers weigh between 6 and 10 lbs. depending on the style and if they have been run rich a lot, loading the packing with oil over time.

There is  a floating coupler midway down the steel header which is mated to the aluminum section with a pair of giant o-rings sealed under bolted tension. The aluminum reflection chamber is very smooth on the inside and an integrated silencer is incorporated into the lower half just like the older mufflers.

Pricing will be about double the stock unit although for a brief time they are selling for the same price as the regular mufflers ($290.19 + tax and shipping) and can be ordered polished (like the one pictured) for an additional $10.

For more information, please write to SkyBrake@aol.com.
