7th Annual Moonshiners PPG/C fly in

The local community, the volunteers and especially the management of the Airport had the most fun last year we’ve ever had and hope everyone comes back for some more scenic mountain flying this year.
Skip will be setting up a tent by the main hangar again this year and will be serving throughout the day starting with breakfast items so you don’t have to pack food in. The Beet Route will be setting up for the Saturday night firework and live band festivities.
For those that haven’t been here before, we boast breathtaking mountainous views, friendly locals, interesting side amenities such as Doe Mountain Recreation Area for some off road trail riding, Watauga Lake for water activities, local flair shops, resturants and a hosting Fixed Base Operator. Search the numerous YouTube videos from previous events to get the feel of what Mountain flying is all about. This general aviation airport is perfect for PPG/PPC operations with plenty of camping sites, potable water and waste water dump on-site. The option of staying at any of our many beautiful Bed in Breakfast Inns, cabin rentals or off site camping sites is always open and numbers are listed below.
With both asphalt and grass runways available for take offs and landings this year there will be local live band, fireworks for some night entertainment on Saturday. 100LL aviation fuel available in the FBO office or seek airport representative. An FAA Notam will be implemented for safety concerns that alert general aviation aircraft of your presence in the area but please note that the Airport will not be closed. The beginning of August usually has proven to be the best weather conditions around here but just in case there is two large hangars for equipment storage and shelter during the rare inclement weather. Event participants charge per day is $20.00 per pilot and $10.00 additional charge that come with non-flying adult guests (children are always no charge). Spectator participation is free. Early arrival and set up is completely permissible, in fact PPG/C is welcome here anytime year round!
