Incident Details
June 6, 2006 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
Student was attempting his 7th solo trike flight with radio supervision from his instructor. During inflation the wing came up straight. The student was told to go for take off. But then a wing oscillation started during the takeoff run. The student was told repeatedly to ABORT! The student ignored ABORT commands. Just as the nose wheel of the trike came up, the wing pulled to one side. The trike hit on the right wheel and flipped, pinning student underneath with gas gushing out of airvent of tank. The instructor managed to flip the trike upright and get the student out. The student broke his arm in two places and tore his rotator cuff. The trike has a bent cage and destroyed prop. NEVER attempt to take off during wing oscillations!
