Incident Details
February 24, 2006 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
Pilot was observed making a forward launch. The wing inflated with a small cravat in the right side but otherwise inflated fully. The pilot pulled enough left brake to counteract the turning tendency while torque-turning to the left. He left the ground at a fairly steep angle and pulled more left brake to counteract the turn. With the pilot about 5 feet off the ground and twisted 45 degrees to the left, the wing stalled and he fell into the sand, breaking his prop and cage. The cure for this is a quick wing inspection before lift off. Secondly, we should always reduce power at the first sign of twisting.
