Incident Details
January 1, 2006 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
Pilot was practicing spot landings using the “scoop” method where a lot of brake is pulled to slow down then it is released to build speed and swoop down past the spot. He was being coached on the radio. While slowing down, he was instructed to pull more brake but overdid it and the wing stalled. The instructor immediately gave the “hands up” call and the pilot duly responded which allowed the wing to reinflate in time to slow catch the fall. The pilot landed hard but with no injuries or damage. Had it happened 10 feet lower the results could have been far worse.
