Incident Details
March 12, 2006 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
Forward launch, wing began to come up, got a small gust when wing was at 45 degrees which caused a full throttle pull, cage flexed, prop contacted cage and prop tips broke/splintered, prop also grabbed left brake line, pulled left brake handle and my fingers into the spinning prop.
Laceration and compound fracture to left 5th finger (pinky) distal phalanx. Tip of pinky was 3/4 severed and only attached by a small piece of skin. Fingernail was sutured back on top of finger. Severe hematoma/edema to other fingers on left hand.
Had it not been for the gloves I was wearing, the injury would have been much more severe.
Attached picture was after the ER visit but before plastic surgery.
