Incident Details
July 26, 2006 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
With around 40-50 flights, still a beginner, I was coming in to land on a soccer field. I came in about 20-25 feet up and perpendicular to the field and then turned 90 degrees left to line up into the wind. Not having done this before nor knowing what to expect, the turn caused me to drop altitude as would be normal and I noticed I was going to hit, so I gave it full throttle to try and climb out, but was too low. A second before I hit I killed the motor and then I landed on my legs and then the frame hit ground. I broke one blade of my prop, and did very minor damage to the cage. No injury whatsoever, except to my pride and my day. If I would have been just a couple feet higher coming into the turn, I probably wouldn’t have hit.
