Incident Details

April 5, 2006 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:

Pilot bought gear off the internet and got minimal training. He turned down suggestions from local pilots who strongly suggested he get full training. On the accident day, after an unknown amount of flight time, he was coming in for a landing, abandoned the approach to go around again and the engine died at 80 feet while headed for a tree line. The pilot apparently (only one non-ppg witness to part of the flight) pulled too much brake (potentiallly to do a 360, when he could have landed 90 degrees either way) and went immediately into a steep spiral dive, impacting at high speed with fatal results.
