Incident Details
September 21, 2006 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
Flying my ppg with approximately 15 minutes of daylight left, a good size vampire type bat w/ fangs flew into my netting about 1 ft from my head. I thought the bat was going to start biting my neck. The bat got stuck in the net but was freeing himself so i stayed heavy on the throttle so the bat could not free himself from the prop suction & netting. I finally reached the landing area 5 minutes later and got out of my harness faster than i ever have before. A few seconds later the bat flew away. Lesson learned: Bats sonar sight doesnt work too good, stay hard on the throttle when blood sucking creature is in your net, fly w/ garlic around your neck because anything can happen up there.
