Incident Details

December 21, 2006 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:

Had been flying for about 25 minutes in the variable NW wind. While banking low, as soon as my wing was perpendicular to the wind, I felt it drop back. I immediately knew what was happening (just not why) and it went into a parachutal stall. Fell from about 40 feet while parachutal — may 15 feet/sec descent (just guessing)… had all of 2 seconds to react and it wasnt enough time or altitude to recover. Fell hard into the wet mud (that and the cage helped break the fall). Had to hike back to truck — thinking I had multiple breaks in right arm. Witness came out to check on me (bless him). Outcome: Serously fractured (borderline shatter) of wrist rotor (?) on right hand (instinctively put hand out as my right side looked to be taking some impact).
