Incident Details
March 4, 2007 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
A pilot was flying along where the ocean meets the land at relatively low altitude. He suffered a motor failure and had to decide whether to go into the water or land. He chose the land but did not see power lines until it was too late. When he contacted the wires, power surged through his cage and the arc burnt his left arm and left side before he fell 15 feet to the ground. This arcing shorted out the power lines and tripped off power. He was taken to the hospital which was, as a result of the accident, without power. He remained in the hospital until being transported to a hospital in the U.S. where he was reportedly released and is expected to fully recover with a few months of convelescance. The pilot has offered to report more completely on the incident once he’s able.
