Incident Details

May 3, 2007 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:

Rushed landing, wife was frantically waving hands to land, 15 mins after takeoff. A “madwoman” verbally attacked her and my ppg partner to leave her beach and police have been called. I did not know this, it seemed like an emergency. Wind was E at 5 mph S. Florida. I rushed landing, tight turn, SE not E and wing shifted Left in landing. Body and motor in a 65 deg angle, Left leg (Bad knee) hit ground first (PoP!). I should recover in a few weeks. I was still able to walk my 70+ lbs motor back to SUV 100 yards. Ortho appt scheduled. Lessoned learned: Know your wife’s histerics! I should have remembered my bad knee, and if I hit the LZ in E wind there would have been no problem! Don’t forget the knee brace! – She forgot her cell phone and I called to remind her to bring it in my rush to go! Not her fault for forgetting her phone but mine for not turning back to get the knee brace- I’m a dumb ass! 750 flights – don’t get too cocky!
