The pilot apparently had an engine fire and ditched in the East China Sea off Fujian Province near the International Conference and Exhibition Center in Xiamen, a famous coastal resort. He was flying about 60 feet above the water when he was seen to “suddenly plunge” into the sea from about 60 feet offshore according to a witnesses. Four tourists rescued the pilot who was immediately rushed to a hospital where he later died according to the city’s public security department.
