Incident Details
October 1, 2007 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
Shortly after take off at about 300 feet AGL, the engine went to idle and would not accelerate. I picked an open area in a marshy mangrove and landed. The cable had come off at the carburator. The unit was brand new and it was my 5th flight. The E clip that holds the throttle on the carb was gone, it either wasn’t installed properly or was never put on. It is a Walboro (sp?) carb, not the Bing. Since then, I practiced finding the carb with my left hand while flying in case it ever happens again.
