Incident Details
October 10, 2008 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
This morning was the first chance I have had to fly in the past 2 weeks. I took the morning off work and was having a beautiful fall color tour watching the fog and dew burn off the trees. About an hour into the flight I decided to take some pictures so I took off my gloves and set them in between my legs. After finished taking pictures I was putting my glove back on my throttle hand when I heard a Thhwump! and then the vibration started. I was able to limp the 10 minute flight back to my LZ. There were plenty of places to land but I thought that I could make it back. After landing 1 glove short of a pair I was able to inspect the propeller. I was missing a strip of the trailing edge about 12″x1″.
Moral: secure all personal articles as the tend to shift in flight. :-)
