No weather issues, Pilot had an engine out at a very safe altitude; however, instead of setting up for a safe landing he choose to try and restart the engine several times. This particular motor was very difficult to start even on the ground with someone else pull starting. The engine also died every time it was put in a hard turn, which is why it quite this time. Not setting up for a safe landing put him out of position impacting an inclining grade, on the berm the road was raised up on, hitting at a 45 degrees angle swinging out in the turn back to the wind line. He thought his back was insured so, due to the remote location and possible spinal injures, EMS requested Life Flight prior to arriving on the seen. He was released 2 hours later with some meds.
