Incident Details

January 1, 2006 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:

Ed: When one or more lines break it adds additional stress to the remaining lines which can cascade fail and render the wing uncontrollable. In this situation, unless the terrain below is a worse option, consider landing immediately as complete failure may be imminent.

Obviously the best prevention is to make sure the glider is inspected according to the manufacturers instruction. Most recommend inspections yearly. Such inspections test line strength along with a host of other important parameters. Wing inspection services can be found at http://www.usppa.local-dev/Resources/Index.htm.
