Incident Details

March 22, 2009 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:

A very experienced pilot with more than 5 years of experience went to launch. He stumbled during the launch and went to his knees underneath him. The prop caught the cage as well as slapped his foot destroying the 3 bladed prop and several sections of the cage. That evening, the ankle was sore and he went for an x-ray. No broken bones, but he did have a limp and used a cane for a couple of days. The pilot later made the claim that he has thought over this incident many times as he had a habit of flying in sandals. This incident demonstrated to him the necessity of wearing good footwear as he knows he would have been severely injured if he had been wearing sandals.
