Incident Details
October 13, 2008 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
Pilot wanted to get a quick flight in and chose a nearby location that was small, but within his capability. Trees, powerlines and buildings surrounded the area but were far enough away. During launch he felt an unusual tug under his arms but didn’t have much time so he let go of the brakes to get into the seat, as was his normal practice. It was then that he realized he never hooked in. He also realized that he could not now reach up for the brakes lest he fall out of the machine. He stayed on full power to climb out since there was not enough room to land. He could barely turn the craft using weight shift. He saw a field and slowly guided his course that way. But then his arms started to shake. In spite of being in good physical shape, it was clear he wouldn’t be able to hold on much longer so he opted to land on top of a building that was right in front of him. Being unable to slow down, he hit very fast and hit an obstruction during landing, fell and caused some gashes and scratches.
