flying with friends on the coast weather conditions were very smooth and benine. I took off first with a successfull reverse launch and circled the field at about 80-100ft waiting for the others.They seemed to be taking their time so I thought I would just have a play about till they got airbourn. Started doing right hand turns gradually getting steeper applying power during the turn to retain height this went very well so decided to try some left handers.I should say at this point that my motor torques to the right( not that that went through my mind at all at the time). Put in my left turn but the wing didnt seem to go into it as steep as i had wanted so applied a bit more brake which caused the left hand wing tip to stall and the wing spin above me crossing my risers and collapsing the wing. I immediately released the throttle and all brake input and the wing re-inflated in less than a second but I’m still facing backwards in relation to the wing. By this time I am probably at 50-60ft. The wing was flying again but no airspeed so it surged to gain speed. The height I had was not enough and unable to apply power due to facing the wrong way I impacted the ground on my right side going backwards. Injuries were fairly major pelvis front and back, sacrum top to bottom and took the horns off my L5 vert. Five weeks in traction, Two pins through my pelvis and sacrum. Six months off work Seven before fit for full duties. conclusion:- don’t do tight maneuvers close to the ground, don’t turn hard against the torque and keep you brain switched on even if the rest of your body is on vacation. thoughts:- It could have been worse. Although it was my stupid actions that caused the incident I believe my reactions to it saved me from worse injury or death.
