Incident Details

February 6, 2010 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:

The very physically fit pilot was flying around the ocean waves, diving down around them, occasionally touching the tops. During one swoop, water spray caused the motor to quit and he immediately went into the water. He struggled to get out of the harness, at one point having to go down to the bottom, release the final buckle, then push up to get a breath. Once free of the motor his foot got tangled in a line and he was beginning to get exhausted. A friend swum out to help direct him to where it was shallow enough to swim. The pilot barely made it before he felt he was about to become incapacitated from exhaustion. He barely made it out with his life but was unable to recover the brand new wing and motor.
