Incident Details

March 3, 2010 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:

Pilot one (not involved in the accident) attempted to launch but aborted. He was moving his wing and trike out of the runway area when the second pilot decided to launch. The first pilot’s wing was moved but parked trike remained and was dead center in the take off run for the second pilot. Pilot two, for whatever reason, decides to launch and almost clears the parked trike. A rear wheel on the trike strikes the top of the cage on the parked trike. Pilot two’s trike spins in the air, the wing surges forward, and he goes to the ground. Cages on both trikes were destroyed including the prop and most of the trike of pilot two. The pilot fell about 6′ and was fortunate to have no injuries. Recklessness injures or kills pilots and results in site loss. This pilot had no formal training – just a day with the PPG vendor and a “good luck flying!”
