Took off on my 7th PPG flight. Got airborne and approximately one minute later the engine lost power momentarily, then returned to about half power. Seconds later it lost power again and recoverd, and finally a 3rd time completely shutting down. I was able to turn into the wind and land near the back yard of a house. I had wanted to land in the yard but as I got closer I saw a clothes line and didn’t want to be surprised by additional lines that I didn’t yet see. I was wearing a Contour Video Camera and have the whole event recorded. Cause of the engine malfunction was a blown head gasket – which has been replaced.
