From news report: “DEBARY — A man trying out his motorized paraglider was injured when he crashed near a ballpark Thursday night, a sheriff’s spokesman said. Thomas Evers, 50, of Sorrento suffered injuries to his leg and abdomen and was airlifted conscious and alert to Halifax Health Medical Center in Daytona Beach, Volusia County sheriff’s spokesman Gary Davidson said. Evers was able to walk out of the woods to meet deputies arriving at the scene of the crash, Davidson said. Evers took off with his motorized paraglider at Sullivan Park on West Highbanks Road shortly before 7:37 p.m., Davidson said. “Apparently he did not gain enough altitude and clipped a tree,” Davidson said. “He came down in a wooded area near the park not far from where he took off.” The accident remains under investigation, Davidson said.”
