Incident Details

September 1, 2010 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:

Having flown for over an hour in calm conditions, a gust front hits me with winds of about 30 mph. I was 100 feet above ground level above a field,1/2 mile from the airfield. I start to fly backwards,in very turbulent conditions now. I let off the throttle but am climbing at 100 fpm. Now I’m paraparked but now descending about 50 fpm. It’s very turbulent,I cut motor at 5 feet above ground, and land like a feather,to start rolling backwards very fast. Too slow on controlling wing I just flipped, bumped my head. I undo the seat belt and crawl out fast and get wing under control. Small bend on the ring, small bump on head.
