Incident Details

September 8, 2010 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:

I had just purchased a used Flyke/Monster combination that required repair on the frame of the Monster cage. After repairing the Monster frame late Saturday evening, I decided to take the unit down the street over to a neighbors. This was my first time running the unit on the ground. I got too aggressive with the speed (> 35 mph) and the tail of the unit started to fishtail. I lost control and flipped the unit in the middle of the road. These units aren’t meant for high speed nor are they meant to be rode down the road. I ended up skinning my knee, face (blood pouring down off my nose at time of incident) as well as injuring my shoulder when the motor unit separated from the Flyke (improperly secured following maintenance). Shoulder was injured as my hand was in the throttle strap with my arm pulled over my head when I flipped. Great pain for two days, and about 90% recovered 2.5 weeks later. The Monster cage was dented and both props failed. The Flyke had a damaged wheel. Expensive lesson.
