Incident Details
December 28, 2010 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
After takeoff and flying for about 5 minutes, decided to descend from about 1000ft to ground level. After short idle started to recover from glide and engine bogged and quiet. Landed in plowed corn field with some corn stubble. Started engine found no problems. Laid wing out being careful to avoid any snags. Seemed like a normal takeoff maybe a slight tug on right side. Wing came up about half way, that’s when I heard the prop hit something. After killing the engine noticed the prop tip was broken and netting damaged. Started taking gear off and noticed my right hand was stinging. After taking glove off notice a small bump forming on back of hand. Not a lot of pain and bones seemed to be intact. I noticed the next day that the prop actually hit the throttle strap. Unable to use index finger for a few weeks. Very lucky. Could have walked to a smoother area to takeoff.
