Pilot was alone and maneuvering low in calm sunset conditions. Crossed road low while enjoying flight and forgot about paying attention to power lines.
Pilot collided with power lines high on lines near wing, which caused him to swing under the wire and impact the ground on his back. Pilot killed engine prior to impact.
Damage to upper three sections of cage frame, with some joint bending of lower cage pieces where they join upper cage pieces. Lower cage pieces are repairable. Pilot credits helmet with preventing injury to head from rearward impact against cage.

Pilot is self-taught, with roughly 20-25 total flights.
