I am writing this to reiterate the importance of a proper preflight. I started my engine for the first time this spring. When I tried to shut it off, both kill switches failed. I found that the wire was broken inside of the insulation just before a grounded ring terminal. This occurs from engine vibration and a lot of wire flexing. I always verify that both kill switches function as part of the preflight. It did bring home the fact to me that I needed to rehearse reaching the fuel shut off petcock in flight. Make sure you can reach it without looking.
