Incident Details
August 16, 2014 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
Although a very low time pilot, he was highly motivated & a fast learner. In his 3 week of flying he was flying as well as a 5 year PPG2 pilot. On this flight he had been airborne for 20 min., doing aggressive low level turns & figure 8’s. Then he entered a “roller coaster” type maneuver, diving at the ground, pulling up, over the top & back down. At the top of one he decided to make a turn & pulled hard left brake. The wing collapsed & he spun in from about 50′. His heel was shattered into some 30 pieces requiring surgery. A pin was inserted & cast applied. Grounded for 3 months.
