I am the wife of Reinder and was present when he attempted his first solo flight that resulted in his death. I am also a physician as was on-site for attempted resuscitation. Despite the listed report, the real story is that the trainers radio equipment was not working properly that night. At one point, the trainer threw his helmet to the ground. The trainer was rushed and inattentive. I believe the cause of the accident was poor instruction and regret not speaking up when I had the chance. There have been too many deaths at this location in comparison to the overall death rate throughout the United States.
