Incident Details
June 14, 2017 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:
Beautiful afternoon. When I arrived at launch site conditions were perfect for a reverse launch. Set up for reverse launch. Minor equipment malfunction caused 30 minute takeoff delay. During that time winds died down. Elected to do a reverse launch anyway due to poor judgement. During launch I stumbled while turning around. A combination of motor thrust/torque/long arms/trying to regain balance resulted in right index finger going through net and contacting spinning prop. Finger was severed. Went to ER, doctor said finger could be reattached but the joints wouldn’t work so if I planned on using my hands a lot it would be best to not have it reattached. I’m pretty sure a safety ring on my cage would have prevented this. I know Skycruiser sells them. If you have long arms, I recommend one!
