Incident Details

April 27, 2019 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:

PPG pilot with less than 30 flights struck wooden football goal post with a couple of wing lines at launch and broke off the goal post at about 14 feet off the ground. Pilot was yanked from about 15 feet above ground to his right and continued rotating so that just before striking the ground he was on his left side. Prior to launch his wing was oscillating towards his right side and his paramotor torques to the right. He had his brake lines pulled down to waist level at time of launch and when he sat down in the seat his right hand stayed down and left brake hand went up. He then was very close to the goal post and couldn’t turn left in time to clear his lines from missing it. His run up to launch was about 52 strides. He knew that his wing seemed to require long brake pull and he was still working on a remedy for that at the time of the accident.
