Incident Details
October 2, 2022 8:45 AM Location of the incident: Henderson, Nevada Type of Incident: Collision with terrain or ground obstacle, Pilot Error
Pilot had 22 hours of experience and was doing Low level aerobatics between 50-200 ft.
On Oct 2, 2022 the pilot launched at roughly 8:40AM with nil wind conditions and began doing acro at 50-200 feet. I watched as he attempted wing overs repeatedly ballooning out of them. As he did this he came lower to about 100ft and attempting another wingover resulted in riser twist at 50-100 ft. The wing was flying straight and level but the pilot was still on and off the throttle as he was spinning with riser twist, which then resulted in a hard spiral quickly hitting the ground killing the pilot on impact.
A series of mistakes resulted in his death. Low Level Acro. Attempting aerobatics way beyond his skill level. And applying power during a riser twist.
