Incident Details

January 1, 2006 Location of the incident: , Type of Incident:

Remember Bruce Brown telling you to put the brakes in the magnets if you are going to let them go. (Even though nobody I ever watch does this).

When you’re flying another machine, even if it’s theoretically the same as yours, there’s always something different so be extra careful.

Spend a bit more time and money now that work has slowed down to get your own machine flyable so you don’t have to fly others and feel guilty if something happens. And,

Take pride in the fact that you didn’t pass out from panic, but instead remained rather calm and dealt with the situation quickly and appropriately (although not perfectly…. probably could’ve used the D lines to “break” and slow that landing down a bit”.

Ed: This can be a potentially catastrophic occurrence if the propeller sucks the brake line in and spins the trailing edge down to the prop. Make sure the motor is not near the brake lines before letting go of them.
