Why Volunteer?

One of the key mission points of the USPPA is to "adopt good operating practices and programs in order to avoid more extensive regulation by the Federal Aviation Administration." (From FAA Advisory Circular 103-7).
WE CAN'T DO THIS ALONE.

Volunteers do not necessarily have the time; they just have the heart.” ~Elizabeth Andrew

The USPPA is a non-profit organization and every role within the organization is a volunteer role. None of us are getting paid to do any of this. We do this work because we love to fly and we want to preserve, promote, and enhance this sport for as long as we can. If any of the positions below sound fun or interesting, please let us know. If you have other ideas for how to volunteer, reach out!

Description

This person will be responsible for finding and collecting high-resolution photos that we can use for the magazine and website. We already have several photographers interested in sharing their photos but we need someone to be the point of contact for the magazine so we can gather photos as needed for each issue. This person will reach out to people in the community to solicit high-quality photos that we can feature in the magazine.

Description

This person will be responsible for reaching out to community members to gather articles and content for each quarterly issue of the magazine and also for potential blog posts on the website. Your job is to help us to find stories and articles that are worth publishing in the magazine and website. It would be ideal if this person could also help tell the story. Maybe you could interview someone and then take that interview and turn it into a magazine article. Kind of like a reporter does? There are a lot of good stories out there but I can't personally reach out and compile them all.

Description

Do you like to read? Are you good with grammar? Your job will be to read the articles we gather for the magazine and help us to catch any mistakes before we print. You will also receive an early copy of the magazine so you can read through it and look for any mistakes in grammar.

Description

The advertising manager will interface with the advertisers who want to place ads in the magazine. This is not a sales role. You don't need to go looking for advertisers. We already have several companies wanting to advertise in the magazine. Your job will be to send them an invoice once they sign the advertising agreement and also to gather the advertising artwork files so we can incorporate that into the magazine.

Description

The magazine and the website both have a section dedicated to upcoming events. Your job is to gather the details of that event so we can place it in the magazine. You will also log on to the website and add events to the USPPA website. You will keep an eye out on social media for any events and then when you hear of something, you can coordinate with the event organizers and ask if we can add it to our magazine and to the website.

Description

It would be great if we could send out a monthly email newsletter. This person will ideally have experience with sending email newsletters. Your job will be to gather the content that is being shared in the magazine (articles) or on the website (blog) and use that to create a newsletter that goes out to all of our members. We use Mailchimp for our email database so if you have any experience with that, it will be a plus!

Description

This person will help us to manage our social media channels. We have a facebook group and page where we can share content. The content will already be available from the magazine articles or blog posts. This person can also help the Event Calendar Coordinator to post updates about upcoming events.

Description

This person will work with the USPPA training committee and with all the current USPPA Instructors/school to ensure everyone has all the updated information regarding training. It may be a matter of reaching out to each school/instructor in our database and sending them the most recent version of the training syllabus or sending them links to the most updated information posted there. We have a lot of schools/instructors and we want to stay in touch with them so they feel supported by the organization. This person will be the key contact between the organization and the instructors.

Description

We would love to have a section in the magazine and perhaps the website as well where we review products. We need a team of volunteers that is willing to review products and perhaps capture some photos or even a quick video review of certain products that get sent for the Paramotor Pilot Magazine. We only need 2-3 people to be part of this process. To qualify, you can't be a reseller of any gear. This is meant for people who are in the sport but are not instructors, or resellers or of any type. We need the reviews to be unbiased.

Description

We are hoping to have a small team of people who are willing to reach out and get the details anytime there is an accident or incident so we can publish that information in our incident database. We can divide the team up by region or state or anything else. The key here is that when we have data about incidents, we can learn from that data to avoid similar incidents. There are a lot of incidents that take place that we are not aware of. Your job is to be tactful and respectful as you gather the facts and then publish those in our incident database (coming soon).
